Why this app exists

Anyone budgeting in Angola knows the problem: the apps you find in the stores were designed somewhere else. They write amounts differently, they arrive with categories that don't match the expenses here, and the Portuguese they use, where it exists at all, came from another country.

Meu Kumbu started as the answer to that. A monthly budget you build on one screen, in kwanzas, written to the Angolan standard, with categories that make sense to someone living here.

The app is built by a small team. That has a consequence we'd rather state upfront: we would rather do a few things properly than many things halfway. It's why there's no bank connection and no automatic receipt scanning — and it's why what does exist, exists properly.
